Run For Cover / Turnover
Myself In The Way & Tears of Change

Project Info

We were invited by Run For Cover Records and Turnover, the Virginia Beach, US band known for constantly evolving between emo, indie rock, dream pop and psychedelic influences, to develop the visual direction for two music videos from their 2022 album Myself in the Way: “Myself in the Way” featuring Brendan Yates of Turnstile and “Tears of Change.”

The album marked another shift in Turnover’s sound, moving further from their early emo and punk roots toward softer textures, synths, funk and more atmospheric, psychedelic territory.

For both videos, we wanted to translate that sense of experimentation into the image itself. Instead of relying on polished digital effects, we built the visual language around analog processes, image degradation and controlled accidents — experimenting with scans, re-scans, overlays, distortions, low-resolution footage and different ways of physically manipulating the material before bringing it back into the edit.

The idea was to let the image progressively lose its original definition and become something else. Errors, glitches, artifacts and repetitions weren't things to hide, but part of the visual language.

The final result sits somewhere between music video, analog experiment and visual trip — spatial, distorted and psychedelic, as if the image itself was going through the same altered state as the music.
